Cross-Connection Control and Backflow Prevention

Starting in June 2025, this course, and other courses related to cross-connection control and backflow prevention, are being offered in partnership with Madison Area Technical College (Madison College). We will provide the same high quality training, but Madison College will be handling course registration and course coordination. What You Will Learn:

This course provides practical training through hands-on sessions that will teach you how to test backflow prevention assemblies and identify and resolve problems with backflow prevention assemblies. Backflow theory; selection of backflow prevention methods, devices and assemblies for specific applications; and state and local agency rules and regulations will also be discussed. Participation in this course and successful completion of the hands-on and written examinations fulfill the training requirements for registration as a Cross-Connection Control Tester in Wisconsin and for certification in several other states.

Who Should Attend:

Practical training for plumbers, sprinkler fitters, facility maintenance personnel, and utility workers focusing on procedures for cross-connection control, backflow prevention, and testing of backflow prevention assemblies.

Event Cancellation

Course Notes

Fulfill Registration and Certification Requirements 
Participation in this course and successful completion of the hands-on and written examinations qualifies for 40 professional development hours (PDH) or 4.0 continuing education units (CEU). 
 
Wisconsin: Successful completion of the Cross-Connection Control and Backflow Prevention course and exam fulfills the training requirements in Wisconsin for Cross-Connection Control Tester registration and is also approved for 40 Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services continuing education hours for many plumbing and fire sprinkler related credentials.

Minnesota and Michigan: ASSE certification is required. To earn ASSE Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification, you must register for the ASSE Backflow Tester Course
