Exam Structure
The exam can be taken once, anytime between the first and last date listed above. There are four parts to the online exam, as shown below. The parts must be taken in order beginning with Part 1. It is recommended that you have three hours of uninterrupted time prior to accessing the exam; however each of the parts can be taken separately as long as all four parts are completed before the end of last exam date.
- Part 1, 75 Minutes
- Part 2, 35 Minutes
- Part 3, 25 Minutes
- Part 4, 15 minutes

Program Director/Instructor
Joy Altwies, Ph.D., P.E., LEED AP+, is a program director for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Office of Interdisciplinary Professional Programs. Since 2004, Dr. Altwies has developed and taught continuing education courses emphasizing high-performance building design and construction, mechanical system design and operation, energy efficiency, and commissioning. She is also the program director of the Master of Sustainable Systems Engineering (SSE) degree program and an instructor of two graduate courses in the program.
